Streamline Digital Video Interface

Video streaming has become one of the main ways people consume media. A new issue of keeping track of subscription renewal dates and browsing content is a common problem among users.

I created this interface as a hub between all of these services as an exercise for developing a brand and adding features in areas that I personally feel would make the user experience more enjoyable.

My Role

For this case study I acted as brand identity designer creating a logo and brand guidelines for this service. I also acted as user interface designer developing insights through user experience research.

Going into this project my main goal was to create a service and a conceptual video streaming interface. Through this interface design I aimed to increase the user experience in streaming media and develop a central hub to access all media in a single interface.

Design

This desktop interface is similar to most side scrolling video streaming interfaces, restructured to make video streaming more enjoyable.

The ability to transition from one show to the next was a pain point for users that watch multiple shows owned by different streaming services. In response a playlist feature was added allowing users to add and organize video content from any service and seamless transitions when switching shows.

Managing subscriptions across multiple interfaces was another pain point. This interface aims to solve that problem by providing a way to manage multiple subscription directly from the Streamline interface.

This projects primary goal is making the user experience more enjoyable for users with multiple online streaming subscriptions by making video watching easier through increased site navigation options.

From the responses I gained from a previous case study I found that 50% of respondents had a preference for a dark interface over a light interface while the other half had a preference for a light interface or no preference. In response to this I added an option to change the color scheme overlay into the interface.

I developed a logo and brand guidelines to help keep the interface consistent throughout the entire project. During preliminary designs I developed a wire frame for the user pathway and further established connections as I moved into the prototyping stage.

For my research I created multiple wire frames to test the color and layout of the interface. I conducted A/B testing through convenience sampling methods. I developed a logo and brand guidelines to help keep the interface consistent throughout the entire project. I created a high fidelity prototype in Figma for the development stage and incorporated micro animations where applicable.
